Placing an order

Every field in the order ticket, in the order you meet them.

The order ticket is the column on the right of the trading screen. You can move it to the left, or change its width, from the Layout button above the chart. Below the extra-large breakpoint (phones and most tablets) the column is not rendered at all: tap the floating Long or Short buttons at the bottom of the screen and the same ticket opens as a sheet with that side already selected.

The fields below are described in the order you meet them, top to bottom.

Cross or Isolated

Top-left of the ticket, as quiet text. Click it to switch.

Cross margin uses your whole USDC balance as collateral for every position. Isolated margin ring-fences the margin you put behind one position, so a loss there cannot pull on the rest of the balance, but that position is liquidated sooner.

Margin mode is an account setting, not a property of the order. The ticket does not call the exchange when you click it; it sends the change when you submit, and only if it differs from what the account is already set to. On load, the label is overwritten with the account's real mode. If the exchange refuses the change you get a "Margin mode unchanged" warning and the order still goes through in the old mode.

Long or Short

The two large filled buttons. Long (green) profits if the price rises, Short (red) profits if it falls. There is no borrowing step and no asset to own: a short is just a negative position size.

The side you pick also drives the direction of the TP/SL shortcuts, which side of the book the BBO shortcut reads, and the liquidation estimate.

Order type

Four text tabs: Market, Limit, Stop, Stop limit. Market is the default.

  • Market fills immediately against whatever is resting on the book. It keeps matching until the whole size is done. If your size is larger than the book, or matching would push the price past the market's price limit, the unfilled remainder is cancelled rather than filled at any price.
  • Limit rests on the book at a price you set and only fills at that price or better. It may never fill.
  • Stop does nothing until the mark price reaches your trigger, then sends a market order.
  • Stop limit does nothing until the trigger is reached, then places a limit order at the price you set. It can trigger and still not fill.

Stop and Stop limit are sent as algo orders. They do not appear in the Open orders tab and cannot be cancelled from it. The same is true of TP/SL brackets.

Leverage

The slider under the type tabs, with the current value in a pill on the right. The readout at the very top of the ticket shows the same figure plus the market's ceiling ("10x max 100x").

The slider steps through fixed rungs rather than every whole number, so the low end is not crushed into a few pixels. The printed labels (first rung, last rung, and 5x/20x/50x where they exist) are themselves buttons if you want to jump. At 50x and above the pill, fill and thumb turn red.

Leverage is applied account-wide when you submit, not stored on the order. Higher leverage means less margin per unit of size and a liquidation price closer to the current price. At 100x, a 1% move against you is your entire margin. Ceilings vary by market: BTC allows 100x, most equities 10x.

If you switch to a market with a lower ceiling, the value snaps down to the nearest allowed rung.

Trigger (Stop and Stop limit only)

The trigger price, labelled with the unit Mark. It is evaluated against the mark price, not the last traded price, so a single wick on one venue is less likely to fire it. Mid fills the field with the current midpoint of the book.

Leaving it empty blocks submission.

Price (Limit and Stop limit only)

Your limit price in USDC. The first time you pick a limit type it is prefilled with the market's mark price.

Two shortcuts sit beside the field:

  • BBO fills the best price on your side of the book: best bid for a Long, best ask for a Short.
  • Mid fills the midpoint of the spread.

Both round down to the market's price tick. The orderbook panel is read-only, so clicking a level there does not fill this field.

Limit prices are checked against the mark price, not the last trade. A price too far from mark is refused, and a resting order can be cancelled by the exchange if the mark price moves far enough away from it.

Whatever is in this field drives every figure lower down the ticket. For Market and Stop orders, the mark price is used instead.

Size, or Margin

The label of the main amount field is dotted-underlined and clickable. It toggles between two ways of expressing the same order:

  • Size: you type a quantity in the base asset (for example 0.05 BTC).
  • Margin: you type USDC and the field's sub-line shows the quantity it works out to. Quantity is (margin x leverage) / price, rounded down to the market's size tick.

Nothing else changes. The same order is sent either way.

At the right of the label row is a small figure: your free USDC (holding minus frozen) as "N free". With Reduce only ticked and a position open in this market, it switches to "N open" and shows the position size instead.

Percentage slider and the 25/50/75/100% buttons

Under the size field. What the percentage is a share of depends on the mode:

  • Normally it is a share of buying power, which is free balance x leverage. 100% at 10x sizes ten times your free balance, not one times it.
  • With Reduce only ticked and a position open, it is a share of that position's size.

The result is rounded down to the size tick and written into whichever field is active. Typing in the size field by hand resets the slider to zero. The slider is greyed out when reduce-only is on with no position, or when your free balance is zero.

Time in force (Limit and Stop limit only)

Four tabs: GTC, IOC, FOK, Post. GTC is the default.

  • GTC: good till cancelled. Rests until it fills or you cancel it.
  • IOC: fills whatever is available at your price right now, cancels the rest.
  • FOK: fills the whole order at your price right now, or cancels the whole thing with no execution.
  • Post: maker only. If it would fill immediately against the book it is cancelled instead. Post also flips the Fee row to the maker rate.

Two things to know. on Swapmos these are order types rather than flags, so they are mutually exclusive. And although the tabs are shown for Stop limit, the stop path does not send them: your choice is ignored on a Stop limit order, which is always placed as a plain limit order once triggered.

TP/SL

Ticking TP/SL reveals Take profit and Stop loss fields. Both take absolute prices. The 5% / 10% / 25% shortcuts fill in a price that far from your entry, in the profitable direction for TP and the losing direction for SL, flipped correctly for a Short. Where the unit would normally be, each field shows the live signed distance of whatever you typed, so a hand-typed price reads back as "+5.0%" or "-3.2%".

The two small buttons on the right of the TP/SL row set the scope, and default to full:

  • full closes the whole position on trigger, whatever size it has grown to by then.
  • partial closes only the quantity of this one order.

Ticking TP/SL unticks Reduce only and disables it, because a positional stop already closes the position.

The bracket is a second call, placed after the entry is accepted. If the entry goes through but the bracket is refused, you get a "Entry placed, TP/SL rejected" warning. That means you have an open position with no stop on it.

Reduce only, Hidden, Confirm

Three checkboxes in a row near the bottom.

  • Reduce only restricts the order to shrinking an existing position, so it can never accidentally flip you the other way. It also changes the ticket: the percentage slider sizes against the position, the hint reads "N open", and the "Add funds" gate is skipped, because closing consumes no margin. This is how you close a position in this app: tick Reduce only and submit on the opposite side. The Positions tab has no close button.
  • Hidden rests the order on the book without showing its size. Only available for Limit and Stop limit. Two caveats: hidden size that gets matched is charged the taker fee even though your order was resting, and the exchange does not accept a hidden post-only order, so Hidden together with the Post tab comes back as "Order rejected". Like time in force, Hidden is not actually sent on Stop limit orders.
  • Confirm is not part of the order. It is a per-device preference, on by default, that decides whether the primary button opens a confirmation dialog first. It persists across reloads and also governs the mobile sheet.

The four figures above the button

  • Notional: quantity x price. The full size of the position.
  • Margin: notional / leverage. What the position ties up.
  • Liq. price: an estimate from this ticket alone. It ignores any position you already have and any other collateral in a cross-margin account, so treat it as a rough figure, not the number you will actually be liquidated at. The live figure is in the Liq. column of the Positions tab.
  • Fee: the rate is in the label (for example "Fee 0.030%") and the figure is notional x that rate. Market and Stop orders show the taker rate; Post shows the maker rate.

If the notional is above zero but below the market's minimum, a red line reads "Minimum order is $N notional on BASE" and the button is disabled until you size up.

The button

The full-width button at the bottom is green for Long and red for Short, and walks the whole setup in order:

  1. 1Get started opens the wallet connect dialog.
  2. 2Enable trading takes one wallet signature to register your Swapmos account and store a trading key in this browser.
  3. 3Add funds opens the deposit dialog. It appears when your free collateral is zero and the order is not reduce-only.
  4. 4Long BTC / Short BTC submits.

On submit the app applies leverage, then the margin mode if it differs, then places the entry, then the TP/SL bracket if you set one. With Confirm on, a dialog first repeats exactly what will be sent: type and time in force, margin mode, trigger, price (labelled "Est. price" for a Market order), quantity, notional, margin, estimated fee, estimated liquidation price, TP and SL, and the reduce-only and hidden flags.

On success you get a toast, the size, percentage and TP/SL fields clear, and the account panel below the chart refreshes. A rejected order shows an "Order rejected" toast with the exchange's reason.

Resting limit orders appear in the Open orders tab, with an X on each row that cancels immediately and without a second confirmation. Stop entries and TP/SL brackets do not appear there and cannot be cancelled from that tab.
